A member of our Emergency/Trauma team, Virginia R. Keaveny, MD, provides immediate care to people with emergent illnesses and injuries, including heart attack and stroke. A Minot native, she graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks and completed her residency training in Emergency Medicine at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education, Rochester, MN. Throughout her medical school and residency she has received numerous awards for academic excellence. Dr. Keaveny is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society.
An emergency medicine physician receives training to care for patients with acute illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. While not providing long-term or continuing care, they diagnose a variety of illnesses and undertake various interventions to stabilize patients.
