This facility was made possible through the generosity of a North Dakota family whose wife and mother lost a four-year battle to cancer. Families stay in this home away-from-home 4-6 weeks at a time. The Cottage offers a welcoming and caring place for out-of-town cancer patients and their caregivers to stay while receiving treatment at the CancerCare Center. Additionally, if there are no CancerCare patients using the cottage, Trinity Home Health and Hospice uses the facility for patients during their final days.
During the fiscal year (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019), 19 families from 15 different cities in North Dakota utilized the CancerCare Cottage.
Two of the families that used the facility stated:
“What a peaceful place to come back to after treatment. They have all the amenities from dishes, pans, towels, fridge, dishwasher & clothes washer (all on the same floor!). The cottage is & was welcoming – we are so thankful we have a comfortable place to stay. Trinity Health’s Cancer Team is extraordinary.” —R & KE
“My family and I would like to thank the cottage and those that maintain it for being available for me. My husband and I are both military and are new to the area. If it wasn’t for this wonderful place, I don’t know what I would have done during my treatment and isolation period. It’s hard being new and trying to ensure I am in a safe place away from my family. Thank you & bless you all!” —KG
