Trinity Health is excited to announce the selection of a new technology partner for their electronic health record (EHR): Epic. Trinity Health has launched the beginning stages of a major EHR upgrade through the start of an 18-month project to implement a brand-new, state-of-the-art EHR system with Epic.
The Epic EHR has been ranked No. 1 in the nation for more than 15 years and is used by more than 2,100 hospitals across the country. Epic is used in more than 65,000 clinics nationwide by more than 570,000 physicians. It protects and manages 64% of all patient records worldwide, working with national health systems like Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, UCLA Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic. Furthermore, 90% of medical students and residents are trained on Epic.
“This significant investment in technology that reflects Trinity Health’s commitment to the health and well-being of our region, empowers our workforce with the modernization of technology and the health system, and positions Trinity Health with the latest advancements in technology and augmented intelligence,” said John M. Kutch, President and CEO of Trinity Health.
Epic’s user-friendly patient portal, MyChart, empowers patients with greater access to their health information, offers simplified appointment scheduling and direct communication with care teams—fostering a more collaborative and transparent healthcare experience—which benefits patients, their families and healthcare providers.
“Through the exceptional features of the Epic EHR, Trinity Health looks forward to fostering a more connected and clear healthcare experience for every patient we see—making it easier to stay informed, manage appointments and providing them with more convenient access to their health information,” said Scott Knutson, MD, Chief of Staff at Trinity Health.
Following the 18-month implementation, Trinity Health is scheduled for a go-live date with Epic on November 1, 2026. More details about the implementation and timeline will be shared as they become available.
