Xiaocheng Yang, PhD, DABR

A key member of our cancer care team, Xiaocheng Yang, PhD, DABR, is a medical physicist highly trained to manage the technical aspects of Trinity’s radiation oncology program. He consults with radiation oncologists to calculate doses and machine settings for radiation treatments and has chief responsibility for calibrating radiation sources like the linear accelerator to ensure that patients receive the prescribed radiation dose.

A graduate of Peking University, majoring in nuclear physics, Xiaocheng earned a master’s degree in optics from Capital Normal University in Beijing. His PhD in solid state physics was completed at West Virginia University, where he also served as a post-doctoral associate. He went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in medical physics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, and remained there to fulfill his medical physics residency at the U of Maryland Medical Center. He practiced at Good Samaritan Hospital Radiation Oncology Center in Baltimore prior to joining Trinity Health.

Xiaocheng has written numerous articles for peer-reviewed publications and presented at conferences of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, of which he is a member. He is board certified in therapeutic physics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology.
