Accepting New Patients

Aaron Makens, MD


November 15, 2021

A member of our primary care team, Dr. Makens is board eligible in family medicine, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of health conditions for patients throughout their lifetime. His areas of focus include women’s health, pediatric care, chronic disease management, and routine checkups to promote wellness. Originally from Fort Lupton, a farming town in Colorado, Dr. Makens received his undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and served as a combat medic in Iraq as part of the Texas Army National Guard. He earned his medical doctorate from St. George’s University School of Medicine, accomplishing his clinical training at Cincinnati Jewish Hospital. His family medicine residency was completed at Minot’s Center for Family Medicine, a program of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Makens is a member of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Joseph Stonehocker, CPNP-PC

Trinity Health is pleased to announce that Joseph Stonehocker, CPNP-PC, has joined our team of providers at Trinity Health Western Dakota in Williston. A board certified pediatric nurse practitioner, Joseph has spent the last three years serving the healthcare needs of Williston-area young people. He provides primary care to children ages 0 to 18, with an emphasis on general and acute pediatric care, annual well-child visits, and mental health support, including ADHD diagnosis and treatment. He’s also trained in various surgical procedures such as circumcision and tongue-tie correction. Originally from Canada, Joseph was reared in Edmonton, AB, and moved to the United States with his family at an early age. He graduated from Utah State University and earned both his Master of Science in Pediatric Nurse Practice and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Health San Antonio, part of the University of Texas system. A devoted husband and father, he and his wife have five children. They enjoy family time and attending youth sporting events.

William Sisa, MD

Dr. Sisa is a pediatrician, dedicated to providing holistic care that promotes the well-being of children, adolescents, and their families.  He is specially trained to manage the full range of children’s physical, mental, and emotional health problems, including acute and chronic conditions, behavioral difficulties, and developmental disorders.

Dr. Sisa earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, and completed his pediatric residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, a teaching hospital affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.

Dr. Sisa grew up in Ghana, where he won the Presidential Award for being the best student from one of the 10 regions in Ghana at the Junior High School level, after which he proceeded to Major in Science at the best high schools in Ghana. Upon completion of high school, he started a remedial school in his hometown which is currently a high school in Ghana.

He proceeded to the University of Ghana where he majored in Chemistry. Upon arrival in the USA, he worked as a quality control chemist at NicePak PDI helping to develop some of the HPLC methods used to test the Super Sani Wipe the most popular hospital disinfectant used in hospitals in the USA. Dr. Sisa was pursuing a graduate Studies in Biochemistry at The City University of NY before he decided to pursue medicine at the St. George’s University School Medicine.

During clinical years in NYC, he got interested in teaching and mentoring of high school students in the science field, and completed several hours of volunteer work teaching. During residency, he participated in various research projects and had one of his research topics presented at the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) 2020 Conference in Washington, DC.

He loves driving, playing volleyball, and soccer.

Kelcey Lee, DNP, FNP-C – New Town

Kelcey Lee, DNP, FNP-C, is a family nurse practitioner and a member of our care team at Trinity Health New Town Clinic. She offers comprehensive primary care services to people across the lifespan, including annual checkups, diagnosis and treatment for a broad range of illnesses, and management of chronic health problems. She also has an interest in diagnosing and treating skin conditions and is trained in a variety of in-office procedures. Born and raised in western North Dakota, Kelcey earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minot State University and received her Doctor of Nursing Practice/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Mary, Bismarck. Prior to earning her master’s, she was associated with Trinity Health for eight years, caring for patients on the Medical Floor and Emergency/Trauma Center. A member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Kelcey resides on her family’s farm/ranch with her husband and four children. She spends time tending cows, horses, chickens, and dogs, and enjoys various hobbies that include camping, gardening, and reading.

Kayla Thomas, FNP-C

Kayla Thomas, FNP-C, is a member of our family care team at Trinity Health East Ridge. She offers comprehensive primary care for individuals and families through all life’s stages, with an emphasis on health promotion, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, and management of chronic conditions.  She has a special interest in dermatology procedures such as mole checks and removals.  Originally from Powers Lake, Kayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minot State University.  She worked nine years at Trinity Health, where she served as a staff nurse and assistant nurse manager in Labor & Delivery and Obstetrics.  Later she became a hospital supervisor.  She earned her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practice from the University of North Dakota and spent two years serving the primary care needs of patients at CHI St. Alexius Health in Minot.  She’s certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.  She participates in several sports and enjoys music and relaxing at the lake, as well as spending time with her husband, Shawn, and two boys.

Renee Harju, FNP-C

Renee has spent the past two decades caring for the primary healthcare needs of individuals and families in the Minot area. She provides comprehensive care throughout the lifespan with an emphasis on health promotion, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, and management of chronic conditions. A 1981 graduate of the Trinity School of Nursing, Renee earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Minot State University and her Master of Science in Family Nurse Practice from the University of Mary, Bismarck. She’s certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Dustin Tolman, MD

Dustin Tolman, MD, is part of our team of providers at Trinity Health Western Dakota in Williston. Dr. Tolman provides the full spectrum of Family Medicine services, from preventive care and health screenings to diagnosis and treatment of complex health conditions. He has been trained and is able to perform numerous in-office procedures such as large and small joint injections, skin biopsies, circumcisions, suturing of lacerations, toenail removal, incision and drainage of abscesses, and more.

He earned his medical degree from American University of Integrative Sciences School of Medicine, St. Maarten, Netherlands, and completed his Family Medicine residency through the University of North Dakota School of Medicine’s residency program in Minot and Williston, where he was elected Chief Resident his final year. A member of the American and North Dakota academies of family physicians, his experience includes caring for underserved and uninsured patients at Minot’s former free clinic. He’s an avid sports fan and participant. He also enjoys architecture and taking part in outdoor activities with his wife and five children. Dr. Tolman grew up in Southern Alberta in Canada but has lived the majority of his married life within the United States while he completed his schooling.

Ginger Strand, PA-C

Ginger Strand, PA-C, is a board certified physician assistant and a member of our family care team at Trinity Health. She provides primary care services to people of all ages, including diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, infections and injuries; treatment of chronic health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure, prescribing appropriate medications, and educating patients in self-care skills to prevent disease. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she returned to UND to complete her Physician Assistant training. Prior to joining Trinity she was a PA at Johnson Clinic in Rugby and served patients in clinic and ER settings in Devils Lake.

Ruth Stanley, FNP-C

Ruth A. Stanley, RN, MSN, NP-C, a former staff nurse at Trinity Health Mohall Clinic, completed all of the study and training necessary to advance as a board certified nurse practitioner at the clinic. She provides primary care services to people of all ages, including diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries, prescribing medications, writing orders for medical studies, managing chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and educating patients on self-care skills and lifestyle changes to prevent disease. A 1986 graduate of the Trinity School of Nursing, Ruth earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and completed her Master’s in Nursing Practice from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Ryan Siewert, MD

Ryan M. Siewert, MD, is part of our team of providers at Trinity Health Western Dakota in Williston. A board certified Family Medicine specialist, he provides primary care services to people of all ages, with a special emphasis on preventive care strategies to keep people healthy. Dr. Siewert also offers help to those struggling with acne through Accutane or acne medications.

A North Dakota native and graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, he completed his Family Medicine residency at UND’s Center for Family Medicine in Bismarck, where he was named Intern of the Year in 2012. A member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Siewert accumulated numerous honors during his educational career, including the Dr. Charles H. Fee Memorial Endowment Award, which is awarded to a medical student exhibiting strength of character, academic achievement and a high potential for success. A member of the American and North Dakota academies of family physicians, his clinical interests include preventive medicine and primary care. He enjoys time with his family, music, guitar, golf, hockey, running and lake activities.
