(MINOT, ND)—The journey towards a healthier heart begins at the supermarket, which is why Trinity Health’s Nutrition Services Department will offer a grocery store tour on heart health October 9th from 2 to 3 p.m. at the original MarketPlace Foods, 1930 South Broadway.
Trinity Health Outpatient Dietitian Kayla Cole, RDN, LRD, will offer tips on how to be heart-smart at the grocery store. “We’ll look at how heart health relates to grocery shopping and learn about heart healthy label reading,” Cole said. “Once you know which foods to eat more of and which foods to limit you’ll be on your way toward a heart-healthy diet.”
The American Heart Association recommends controlling portion size, eating more vegetables and fruits, selecting whole grains and limiting unhealthy fats.
Participants are instructed to meet at the east entrance of MarketPlace Foods, near the deli. Space is limited. Registration is required by calling 857-5268 by October 8th.
