“Free gas for a year” was a coveted prize at the First Annual Fuel the Fight cancer fundraiser held October 26 at Tesoro Dakota Square. On November 2, prize sponsor United Community Bank of North Dakota presented the prize to the lucky winner, Sara Abrahamson. Sara received $2600 worth of gas for a year. “I was supporting a great cause and I happened to be the lucky winner. And, I have a child that plays hockey, so we travel a lot,” Sara said. Todd Vangsness, Regional Market President for United Community Bank, called the donation a great opportunity to ease the transportation costs of patients at the Trinity CancerCare Center. “It was a good way to support the cause, and free fuel seemed like a perfect fit,” he said. Fuel the Fight was a team effort by Tesoro and several local businesses, including United Community Bank, Trinity Health, Pepsi, KMOT-TV and West Dakota Fox, The Stereo Shop, KHRT Radio, and I. Keating, Inc. Tentative estimates indicate the event raised more than $20,000 for cancer patients.
