(MINOT, ND) – Patients at the Trinity CancerCare Center are stocking up on cups of joe, thanks to Minot’s two Caribou Coffee stores.

On Friday, representatives from the North Hill and MarketPlace South Caribou Coffee outlets delivered 356 pounds of Amy’s Blend to the cancer center as part of a long-standing appeal that the Caribou Coffee Company conducts nationwide this time of year.

‘For 20 years, Caribou Coffee has sold Amy’s Blend Coffee in honor of Amy Erickson, one of our original roastmasters, who lost her battle with cancer,’ said Stephen Schauer, manager of Minot’s Caribou Coffee MarketPlace South. ‘Ten percent of all Amy’s Blend coffee and merchandise sold in the month of October is donated to CancerCare, a national non-profit foundation dedicated to helping people cope with cancer.’

Schauer noted that as coffee is purchased, some is donated back to the stores, so the coffee outlets decided to partner with Trinity Health to donate packages of coffee for distribution to patients receiving cancer treatment.

‘It seemed like a great fit,’ said Beth Bennett, manager of the North Hill store. Schauer added, ‘I’m amazed at the passion and support people have given to this project. I’m always dumbfounded the way people in the Minot area rally around each other.’

CancerCare Director Shane Jordan RT (R)(T), CMD, said the cancer center plans to make the coffee available to patients both at the cancer center and at Trinity’s Cancer Exercise Rehab program at the Minot Family YMCA. ‘When they first contacted us it sounded really cool. Now that I see the result, it’s overwhelming. We’re just honored and privileged to be a part of it,’ Jordan said.
