Trinity Health will observe National Patient Safety Week with a Patient Safety Fair March 12-14 in the Trinity Hospital Skyway.
Patient Safety Week focuses the nation’s attention on reducing medical errors by adopting specific care practices based on the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals.
Amy Swearson, RN, Standards Coordinator in Trinity’s Clinical Excellence & Patient Safety Department, says the three-day observance will feature informational booths highlighting the Patient Safety Goals and the steps Trinity Health has taken to implement them.
“Everyone is welcome to come check it out and have some fun!” Swearson said, adding, “It’s important for everyone to know these safety precautions, whether it be staff, patients, or visitors. We must be advocates for our community as well as ourselves.”
The National Patient Safety Goals focus on specific problems in healthcare safety such as identifying patients correctly, using medicines safely, preventing infection, and preventing mistakes in surgery.
The fair will be open the following days and times: Tuesday and Wednesday, March 12 & 13, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.; and Thursday, March 14, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
