For over 100 years, Trinity Health Foundation has made a positive difference in the health and wellness of people in our region. Throughout the Foundation’s existence, there have been moments that stand out as transformative, where the guidance of one person leaves a lasting impression.

One of those moments occurred in 2011, when Jeffrey Verhey, MD, became Trinity Health Foundation’s Board Chairman—the same year he joined the Board of Directors. Under Dr. Verhey’s leadership, Trinity Health Foundation saw many dreams and initiatives come to fruition.

During Dr. Verhey’s tenure as Board Chairman, he oversaw the creation of the Trinity Guest House and Trinity CancerCare Cottage, the development of four named Endowments and creation of five new restricted funds, the overhaul of the Trinity Health Foundation Nursing Scholarship program, the completion of a mini campaign to remodel the Core area at Trinity Homes, and the completion of the $15 million Capital Campaign for the Healthcare Campus and Medical District.

As we reflect on Dr. Verhey’s time as Board Chairman, it’s difficult to measure the full extent of his impact. His leadership helped Trinity Health Foundation grow in strength and purpose, and Trinity Health Foundation is proud of the progress they’ve made during his tenure.
