Trinity Health has earned the American Heart Association’s highest award for stroke care. Trinity
received the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, an advanced level of recognition for hospitals that consistently show compliance with stroke care standards.
Dr. Ann Hoff, co-director of Trinity’s stroke care program, says the award is the product of a lot of hard work and dedication on the part of Trinity’s staff. But the job of educating the public is just beginning.
This award is a tribute to the strides we’ve made in rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients as well as through education and monitoring of stroke cases. One of our continued concerns still is that people tend to ignore stroke symptoms and wait too long to seek care,” Dr. Hoff said.
Stroke is the fourth-leading cause of death in the U.S. and a major cause of adult disability. People should seek treatment immediately if they experience any of the most common stroke symptoms
