(MINOT, ND)—Trinity Health will host its 5^th Annual Hospice and Palliative Medicine Symposium October 10^th from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Grand Hotel.

National and local health experts will present information about palliative medicine and hospice care and the role each plays in improving quality of life for individuals faced with a serious illness or someone at the end of their life.

Christian Sinclair, MD, a Palliative Medicine specialist at the University of Kansas Medical Center and past president of the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine, will discuss the basics of hospice care and the common myths that surround it.

Rym Lamrad, MD, a palliative and internal medicine specialist and a new addition to Trinity Health, will discuss Trinity’s new outpatient palliative medicine program.

Sally May, RN, BSN, senior quality improvement specialist with Quality Health Associates of North Dakota, will explore healthcare directives and provider orders for life-sustaining treatment. Also planned is a panel discussion by family members who have utilized hospice services.

The symposium, which includes a complementary meal, is free and open to the public.
