(MINOT, ND)-Now is the time for people to get their flu shot – so say state and federal health officials. To facilitate the process, Trinity Health is offering a series of flu shot clinics today (Oct. 13), October 14, 20 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the JC Penny Court at Dakota Square Mall. Cost per vaccination is $25 payable at the time of service.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that people get their seasonal flu vaccine as soon as the shots becomes available. Vaccination before December is considered best since it ensures that the protective antibodies are in place before flu activity is typically at its highest.
A total of 3,259 flu cases were reported in North Dakota last year – 221 in Ward County.
This year’s flu vaccine will protect against the three influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season, including the H1N1 virus.
While everyone is a candidate to catch the flu, older people, young children and others with certain with health conditions are at higher risk for complications.
