(MINOT, ND) – Trinity Health is lifting visitor restrictions at both of its Minot hospitals, effective immediately. However, restrictions remain in effect at Trinity’s long-term care center, Trinity Homes.
Sue Niebuhr, coordinator of Infection Prevention and Control for Trinity Hospital and Trinity Hospital ñ St. Joseph’s, says the letup is due to a recent decline in flu activity across the state.
‘The latest influenza report from the North Dakota Department of Health shows a decrease in the number of reported flu cases for two consecutive weeks, which is why we feel comfortable lifting the restrictions,’ Niebuhr said. ‘We continue to stress that people exhibiting any signs of cold or flu-like illness should avoid visiting the hospitals.’
The restrictions were put into place at both Trinity Hospitals January 12th due to an outbreak of influenza in the region. Niebuhr says people should still observe recommended precautions such as hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and staying home if you’re sick. ‘It’s difficult to predict how much longer flu activity will be in our community, so it’s not too late to get vaccinated,’ she added.
