Trinity Health Foundation Healthcare Careers Scholarship Program is now Accepting Applications

Trinity Health Foundation is excited to announce that the inaugural Healthcare Careers Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. The application period will run from August to November.

The Healthcare Careers Scholarship supports students pursuing patient-facing or clinical healthcare careers. Students pursuing RN or LPN licensure are ineligible for this award and are encouraged to apply for the Trinity Health Foundation Nursing Scholarship.

Thanks to the generous support for establishing the Healthcare Careers Scholarship Endowment, this fund was created to help address the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in North Dakota, particularly in rural areas. By investing in the education and development of local students, this fund helps strengthen the future healthcare workforce and ensures that communities across the region continue to receive the care they need.

The 2026-27 Trinity Health Foundation Nursing Scholarship Program is now Accepting Applications

The 2026-27 Trinity Health Foundation Nursing Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. The annual nursing scholarship application period will run from August to November.

Through the generous support of the Nursing Scholarship Fund, the fund has played an integral role in making this scholarship program possible for future nurses since the scholarship’s inception in 1995. Last year saw 24 applications, with seven scholarships totaling $55,000 awarded to nursing students throughout the region. Two high school students also received scholarships to further their nursing education.

Trinity Health CancerCare Center Introduces Certified Therapy Dogs to Support Patients

Trinity Health Foundation is excited to announce the addition of two certified therapy dogs who will provide comfort and emotional support to patients receiving treatment at the Trinity Health CancerCare Center.

Cinder and Zeke are certified therapy dogs trained to provide a calming presence and companionship to individuals navigating challenging health journeys.

The addition of the therapy dogs was made possible through the generous support of Elly and Brock DesLauriers, who donated the insurance costs associated with having therapy dogs on-site.

“We are thrilled to offer this additional layer of support to our CancerCare Center patients,” said Greg Toepfer, Service Line Administrator (Oncology and Radiology) at Trinity Health. “Cinder and Zeke bring something truly special to our patients: a source of comfort and joy during what can be a difficult time. We are incredibly grateful to the DesLauriers family for making this possible through their generous donation.”

The addition of therapy dogs reflects Trinity Health’s commitment to caring for the whole person, not just treating the disease. Through services such as therapy dog visits, Trinity Health continues to find new ways to support patient well-being and foster a compassionate care environment.

Trinity Health Foundation’s 9th Annual Fuel the Fight set for August 14

Trinity Health Foundation is excited to announce that the 9th Annual Fuel the Fight event will take place at Dakota Square ARCO on Friday, August 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The day will feature bounce houses, exciting raffle drawings, donuts provided by Marketplace Foods, lunch provided by First Western Bank & Trust, Lemonade from The Local Lemon provided by Heritage Insurance and much more.

A portion of all fuel and in-store sales at Dakota Square ARCO will benefit Fuel the Fight, which supports patients at the Trinity Health CancerCare Center by providing gas vouchers to help with their travel to treatment.

New this year, community members have an entire week to enter for a chance to win free gas for a year. To receive an entry into the grand prize drawings, purchase eight or more gallons of fuel at Dakota Square ARCO Sunday, August 9, through Friday, August 14, and receive an entry for free gas for a year courtesy of First Western Bank & Trust and $1,500 cash courtesy of Farstad Oil. With a full week to participate, there are more chances than ever to support patients on their journey to treatment.

Trinity Health Foundation Announces Intention to Establish Healthcare Careers Scholarship

Thanks to a generous $25,000 donation from Denise and Lynn Billadeau, Trinity Health
Foundation is excited to announce the intention to establish a Healthcare Careers Scholarship
Endowment. Once this endowment reaches $50,000, it will support students from the region pursuing
healthcare careers.

The Healthcare Careers Scholarship Endowment will also help address the critical shortage of healthcare
professionals in North Dakota, particularly in rural areas. By investing in the education and development
of local students, this fund helps strengthen the future healthcare workforce and ensures that
communities across the region continue to receive the care they need.

“We are deeply grateful to Denise and Lynn Billadeau for their remarkable generosity,” said Dusty
Zimmerman, Trinity Health Foundation Director. “Their support will open doors for students in our
communities and help ensure that families across the region continue to receive exceptional care close
to home.”

This meaningful donation reflects the shared commitment of both Trinity Health Foundation and the
Billadeaus to investing in the future of healthcare in our region. This initiative will help prepare the next
generation of healthcare professionals who will sustain exceptional care across the region.

Kidney Dialysis Unit Recliner Initiative Creates Critical Comfort

For many patients undergoing kidney dialysis, the hours spent in treatment are often long and uncomfortable, particularly when seated for an extended period of time. Through an initiative developed by Trinity Health Foundation and with the generous help of its donors, that reality will change.

By raising $49,500, Trinity Health Foundation will be able to purchase 11 heated recliners for the Kidney Dialysis Unit, providing not only essential care to those in need, but also critical comfort during long treatment sessions. These recliners are not just a luxury, they are a necessity. In addition to providing critical comfort, they also help alleviate anxiety symptoms that arise during treatment, making treatment a more soothing environment while patients receive the care they need.

Kidney dialysis patients often experience symptoms of fatigue, making simple tasks such as walking to and from their cars particularly challenging. To help alleviate some of those symptoms, Trinity Health has enhanced patient accessibility by previously relocating the Kidney Dialysis Unit to a more convenient location on the first floor of the Medical Office Building.

This move reflects Trinity Health’s ongoing commitment to improving patient care. This dedication is further demonstrated through the purchase of these new recliners, which would not be possible without Trinity Health Foundation and their incredible donors.
