Carol M. Schaffner, MD, is dedicated to providing individualized care that meets a woman’s changing needs throughout her lifetime. Originally from South Dakota, she earned her medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in Vermillion. Her internship and Ob/Gyn residency were completed at Tulane University Hospital, New Orleans, LA. She’s committed to comprehensive healthcare for women, with a special interest in infertility and pregnancy.

Bryan Phillips, PA-C
Bryan Phillips, PA-C, is a certified PA and a provider in our Infectious Disease Department. He works closely with Infectious Disease specialist Casmiar Nwaigwe, MD, and other clinicians to provide care to patients with various illnesses caused by microorganisms, including bacterial and viral infections. A graduate of Minot State University, where he graduated Cum Laude, he completed his master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University, Iowa. His experience includes medical rotations in Family and Internal Medicine, as well as working as a residential treatment advisor at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch and as a scribe and ER technician in the Trinity Emergency/Trauma Center. He’s a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Erica Riordan, MSN, CNM
A certified nurse midwife, Erica Riordan, MSN, CNM, provides general obstetric and gynecological care for women, as well as contraception counseling and preventive medicine. The Illinois native earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Aurora University in Illinois and received a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, Hyden, Ky. Her experience includes 10 years working as on obstetrics nurse at Illinois Valley Community Hospital. She also was associated with Birth Care Staffing, an agency that assists hospitals in fulfilling specialized nursing needs. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and Midwives Alliance of North America.
Margaret Nordell, MD
A North Dakota native, Dr. Nordell practiced obstetrics and gynecology in the San Francisco area before returning to North Dakota in 1993 to join Trinity Medical Group. She’s an advocate for women’s health with a particular interest in problems related to adolescence, pregnancy, osteoporosis, and menopause. Dr. Nordell is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Casmiar I Nwaigwe, MD
Casmiar I. Nwaigwe is board certified in Infectious Diseases. He offers expert consultation and treatment of illnesses caused by microorganisms, including bacterial and viral infections, HIV, pneumonia, wound infections and Lyme disease. He also consults on the rational use of antibiotics and treatment of resistant bacteria as well as providing advice to international travelers. Dr. Nwaigwe (pronounced WIG-way) received his medical degree from the University of Lagos in his home country of Nigeria. He completed a three-year Internal Medicine residency and three-year Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, where he received awards for his scholarly study and research. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Infectious Disease Society of America, American College of Physicians, and the Society of Internal Medicine.
Jennifer Johnson, MD
As a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist, Dr. Johnson is dedicated to providing individualized care that meets a woman’s changing needs throughout her lifetime. A graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, she completed her Ob/Gyn residency at Akron General Medical Center in Ohio, where she gained experience in the areas of high-risk obstetrics, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, in addition to performing many minimally invasive procedures using the da Vinci robotic surgery system. She is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Association. Dr. Johnson is a native of Minot.
Lori Dockter, PA-C
Lori Dockter, PA-C, is a certified physician assistant specializing in women’s health and primary care. As a member of Trinity’s team of Ob/Gyn and Women’s Health providers, Lori provides the full range of primary care services for women of all ages, including health and wellness counseling, physical exams, menopause care, contraception management and obstetrics.
A native of Rolette, ND, Dockter earned her RN diploma from Trinity School of Nursing. She worked in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Trinity Hospital and the birthing unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She completed the physician assistant program at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Lori is a member of the ND Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jessie Fauntleroy, MD
A member of our Obstetrics and Gynecology team, Jessie Fauntleroy, MD, is dedicated to providing individualized care that meets a woman’s changing needs throughout her lifetime, including high-risk obstetrics and laparoscopy. A graduate of Ross University School of Medicine, Portsmouth, Dominica, she completed her Ob/Gyn residency at SUNY University at Buffalo, where she served as chief resident and assumed leadership roles in promoting wellness among mothers and newborns. Dr. Fauntleroy also holds a Master’s Degree in Health Management Systems. A junior fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Fauntleroy is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society.
John David Amsbury, DO
An obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Amsbury is dedicated to providing individualized care that meets a woman’s changing needs throughout her lifetime. A graduate of Arizona State University in Tempe, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. He completed his Ob/Gyn residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH, where he gained experience in high-risk pregnancy. Dr. Amsbury is certified in advanced fetal monitoring and has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery using Trinity’s da Vinci robotic system.
Heather Bedell, MD
Born and reared in Munich, ND, Dr. Heather Bedell is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist, dedicated to providing personalized care for women of all ages. Her subspecialty interests include incontinence and pelvic problems. She has a strong background in minimally invasive procedures and provides high risk obstetrical care. Dr. Bedell is a member of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. She and Dr. Timothy Bedell, another member of our Ob/Gyn team, have four children.
