Breastfeeding Consultation, Education Available at Trinity When mom experiences problems with breastfeeding, Trinity provides support from five lactation experts, as well as well-trained and experienced nurses in Trinity's nursery and OB areas. Support is available 24-hours a day, before, during and after a hospital stay and delivery. Breastfeeding education has been found to increase the success and duration of the breastfeeding experience. Breastfeeding education is available through Trinity's "Next Steps" program, a series of classes for parents. Private consultation is also available. If you are interested in these services, please call 857-5348. Prepared Childbirth Classes Prepared childbirth, with an emphasis on the LaMaze technique, is taught throughout the year. Each four-week and weekend session provides extensive information regarding exercise and breathing techniques, labor/delivery, anesthesia and analgesia, C-section, early postpartum, newborn care and newborn feeding. Tours of the Family Birth Center are also incorporated in each session. Participants should pre-register early but attend classes during the last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy. Refresher classes are scheduled as necessary. Next Steps Next Steps is a series of classes that provide useful information to help ease the transition into parenthood. Topics include breastfeeding, sibling classes, parenting tips adn child development. Classes are designed for parents who are about to deliver or those who have recently delivered. Classes are free of charge, and registration is required.
