Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC)

Trauma:
Multiple trauma has become known as the most neglected disease. Trauma kills more people between the ages of 15 and 24 than all other causes combined and is the leading cause of death and disability 2for all groups up to the age of 45. The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) recognized that these statistics were grim reminders that the lack of prompt, definitive and standardized trauma care was producing fragmented, and presumably substandard, care for trauma patients. The ability to provide a mechanism that would elevate the quality of care for trauma victims became a priority within the association.

TNCC has been designed by nurses for nurses. The intent is to provide a consistent knowledge base and approach among nurses rendering trauma care. It is intended to enhance cognitive skills, to sharpen technical skills and to provide a foundation for future learning. The ultimate purpose is to improve the level of care provided in emergency care settings, large and small, rural and urban.

Enrollment:
This course is limited to registered nurses. The registration fee for the day verification course is $275.00. This fee includes the manual, continuing education credits, and breaks. There will be no refunds after the registration deadline date, but substitutions are accepted. If the course is cancelled you will receive a refund.

The course manual will be mailed to you approximately one month before the course. You will need to study the manual before taking the course.

Education credits will be granted by the Emergency Nurses Associaion.

2008 TNCC Course Dates:

The class will be held from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Lunch is on your own.

Class location is in the Community Education Room located in the Health Center - 5th Avenue building at 307 5th Ave SE.
