SPORTS MEDICINE

Trinity Sports Medicine has over fifteen years of experience caring for the physically active population in the Minot area. What began as a small department of two athletic trainers and a physical therapist has exploded into multiple departments including:

• Athletic Training
• Outpatient Physical Therapy
• Exercise Physiology
• Family Practice/Sports Medicine
• Networked with Orthopedic Associates

The recent addition of Sports Medicine Physician Dawn Mattern, M.D. to the team has added an element of physician care unavailable in any other sports medicine program in the region. Dr. Mattern is located within the offices of Trinity's Orthopedic Associates providing fast and efficient overall treatment options for any sports-related injury, whether surgery- or illness-related.

The Sports Medicine team provides athletic training contracted coverage to every school within 24 miles of the Minot area as well as university, professional and amateur athletics. The athletic trainers travel to the schools on a weekly/daily basis for pre-game or practice preparation, injury evaluation, injury treatment and, when necessary, referral to additional medical attention. The presence of the Sports Medicine athletic training staff at the schools helps ease the minds of parents, coaches and administration and ensures that proper medical treatment is being provided for the athletic injuries. It also ensures the athletes are returned quickly and safely to competition.

District, regional and state high school tournament activities are also a part of the medical coverage of the Sports Medicine Staff. Past medical contract coverage has included local private and amateur sporting events such as Prairie Rose Games, State Amateur Basketball and National Softball Tournaments to name a few. An organization can call Sports Medicine at 857-5286 to inquire on the availability of Sports Medicine personnel if interested in contracting coverage.
