Care Services: Activities
The activities team provides a variety of stimulating, challenging, educational, entertaining, and meaningful activities in group settings and through individual visits. Activities are developed according to the interest of the resident taking into account the past daily routine prior to any nursing center placements and focused on what is currently important to that resident.
the following variables are taken into consideration when planning activities: age, personal interests, educational background, culture and ethnic heritage, previous social patterns, as well as the resident's current physical, mental and psycho- social abilities.
A weekly activities schedule is posted in each area near the nurses' stations. Some of the weekly activities include:
- Cards & Games
- Kids Visits (i.e. onsite daycare & school involvement)
- Religious Services
- Reading / Reminiscing
- Social Time with Refreshments
- Special Entertainment
- Trivia / Word Games
- Individual Visits
Monthly Special Events
Monthly special events include a variety of entertainment, dances, quilting, art display, karaoke program, or volunteers sharing their special talents (e.g. baking, painting, etc.). Minot Public Library also delivers materials monthly to individual residents upon request.
