Trinity Health's Outpatient Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy team has again earned national recognition for providing services that result in positive patient outcomes. Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO), Inc., a national data-gathering and reporting service, awarded Trinity's outpatient PT/OT therapists its Outcomes Excellence Award for "excellence achieved in effectiveness of treatment during the past 12 months."Trinity Therapy Services Coordinator Michael Rexin, PT, DPT, says FOTO compared the effectiveness of treatments offered by rehabilitation providers nationwide based on data received from Trinity and other providers. It then recognized those therapy providers who exceeded national standards. "The Outcomes Excellence Award requires that we show superior outcomes for four quarters in a row," Rexin said. "It's not an easy benchmark, and it demonstrates that our patients receive excellent value when they choose Trinity as their PT and OT provider. A patient's ability to resume normal activities and improve function is an important measure of how successful we are in helping with their treatment."FOTO, which has provided outcome data to healthcare providers since 1994, offers the first Functional Health Status Measure approved for physical rehabilitation by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service. More than 1,000 organizations have contributed to the FOTO data base network.
