(MINOT, ND)-For the third time in recent years, Trinity Health has earned distinction as one of America's "Most Wired" health systems. The July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine lists Trinity among the winners in its "Most Wired - Small and Rural" category. For the second year in a row Trinity is the only North Dakota health system to make the list.Trinity President and CEO John Kutch said an analysis of Most Wired health systems indicates that the use of IT is associated with better outcomes for patients. "Our investments in technology and training have helped to achieve benchmarks in patient care and safety," Kutch stated, adding, "We're proud of this recognition, but the foremost reason we invest in technology is because of what it can do to help us provide high-quality, safe care for our patients and residents." Trinity deployed an electronic health record in 2006 and has continued to build on its eCARE system, adding electronic entry of physician orders and connecting many rural health facilities to its online imaging system. "We have a remarkable team of people working hard every day to provide the best healthcare possible," said Trinity President and CEO John M. Kutch. "This award recognizes our values and culture as much as it does our technological achievements." A journal of the American Hospital Association, Hospitals & Health Networks magazine bases its Most Wired list on an annual survey which recognizes health organizations for investing in healthcare IT and using the technology to maximize quality and safety.
