Trinity Hospitals' preadmission program is designed to streamline your hospital admission and help ensure a smooth and worry-free hospital stay. Pre-surgical preparation may include blood tests, x-rays, medical history, physical exam and patient education. These should be completed within a window of no more than two weeks and no less than 48 hours in advance of your surgery to avoid cancellation or delays in your surgery date.
Preparing for Your Hospital Stay
Please bring all of your insurance information with you, including names of companies and policy numbers.
Consider completing an Advance Directive document (see the section on Making Healthcare Decisions). If you already have one, please bring a photocopy with you.
Bring any prescription and non-prescription medications that you are taking in their correctly labeled containers. This includes vitamins, over the counter medications and herbal supplements. These products may interact with anesthesia or affect how well your blood clots. Your health care team can make adjustments if they know what you are taking.
Leave all valuables at home.
Upon admission you will be assigned a personal identification number or PIN, which you may share with whomever you choose. To protect your privacy, no information about your condition will be released over the telephone - even to family members - unless the caller provides the correct PIN number.
Arrange for a ride home.
If you have questions that are not answered with the information we have provided you in this section, call our pre-admission nurse at 701-857-5303 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
