(MINOT, ND)—Trinity Orthopedic Associates is determined to help patients “shoulder” the burden of their shoulder pain.

Beginning in May, Dr. Alexandre Kindy will dedicate part of his practice to caring for patients with shoulder problems. The “Shoulder Clinic” will be the first of its kind in western North Dakota devoted exclusively to the comprehensive care and management of shoulder issues. This will be open to anyone with a medical complaint involving the shoulder, whether it's pain or immobility,” Dr. Kindy said. “My goal is to care provide the most advanced shoulder care as possible.”

Shoulder injuries are common and often occur as a result of trauma or repetitive overuse of the muscles and tendons that support and move the joint. Dr. Kindy says the purpose of the Shoulder Clinic is to provide specialized care and to educate patients regarding shoulder disorders and treatments. Another goal is to enable patients to see an orthopedic specialist as quickly as possible.

“Initially I'll dedicate Thursday afternoons to seeing shoulder patients,” Dr. Kindy said, adding, “I've put a lot of effort into learning shoulder arthroscopy and other advanced techniques. I thought a Shoulder Clinic would be a good way for more people to benefit from what I do.”

An orthopedic surgeon with specialized shoulder training, Dr. Kindy is the only orthopedist in the region specializing in shoulder arthroscopy, a type of minimally invasive surgery that uses an arthroscope and specially designed instruments to perform shoulder surgery through a few small punctures instead of a large incision. A surprising number of repairs can be made via this minimally invasive approach, including torn tendons and rotator cuffs. Even delicate suturing can be performed, thanks to the arthroscope's powerful magnification.

Other treatments made available through the Shoulder Clinic include total joint replacement and reverse shoulder replacement surgery utilizing the latest technology and prosthesis systems.

A member of Trinity Orthopedics since 1997, Dr. Kindy is board certified in orthopedic medicine, specializing in general orthopedics, total joint replacement, sports medicine and shoulder arthroscopy. A Montreal native, he earned his medical degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Calgary, where he served as chief resident. SPACE index.php
