(MINOT, ND)— Emergency responders from northwest North Dakota will gather in Minot this weekend as the North Dakota EMS Association presents its 2017 Northwest Region EMS Conference Saturday and Sunday (January 28-29) at the Grand Hotel.
Sessions begin at 8 a.m. and run late into the afternoon both days.
New to this year’s conference is a special track of sessions on Saturday dealing with oil and gas emergencies. Topics include drilling rig safety, responding to pipeline emergencies, toxic gasses and tank fire awareness.
The conference also will tackle a number of other timely issues, including protocols for workplace violence and active shooter situations, PTSD and human trafficking. On Sunday, Trinity Health Emergency Physician Jeffrey Sather, MD, will give a personal perspective on North Dakota’s initiative to start an EMS system in the West African nation of Ghana.
Other speakers include representatives from Trinity Health, Community Ambulance of Minot, the North Dakota Safety Council, Hess Corporation, Enbridge and Sanford Health.
