(MINOT, ND)— Trinity Health Cardiologist Emad Dodin, MD, will offer a free varicose vein screening Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. on the 4th Floor of Health Center – Medical Arts, 400 Burdick Expressway East.
The screening is for people with varicose veins or those who suffer from a more serious form of vein disease, chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
“Varicose veins aren’t just a cosmetic issue. If left untreated they can develop into
CVI, a progressive disorder with significant qualify-of-life impacts, including reduced mobility, skin damage and ulcer formation,” Dr. Dodin said.
The purpose of the screening clinic is to determine whether patients might be candidates for Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy, a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to vaporize diseased veins using a low-pain, outpatient approach. The screening process involves a physical evaluation and health history intake.
It’s estimated more than 30 million Americans suffer from varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. Risk factors for vein disease include family history of varicose veins, obesity, multiple pregnancies, and occupations that require prolonged standing.
