Hong J. Jun, MD, is a general and vascular surgeon, dedicated to providing each patient with high-quality surgical care. A graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, Dr. Jun earned a master's in biochemistry from the University of Maryland, where he received Outstanding Teaching Assistance honors. He received his medical degree from American University of Caribbean and completed five years of surgical residency at both the University of Connecticut and University of New Mexico schools of medicine. Prior to joining Trinity Health, Dr. Jun practiced general and vascular surgery in Virginia at Clinch Valley Medical Center, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Prince William Hospital and Virginia Hospital Center. He's an associate fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
General surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs such as, intestines including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. They also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, and hernias. These surgeons deal mainly in the Torso.
In vascular surgery diseases of arteries and veins are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction.
