Neuropsychologist Thora Anderson, Psy.D., has joined Trinity Mental Health Services. A native of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Dr. Anderson worked in educational counseling before pursuing an interest in the connection between mind and body. She earned a doctor's degree in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, specializing in health psychology, and completed a fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Rochester in New York State. What is a neuropsychologist? It is a psychologist who studies brain/behavior relationships and how they affect higher brain function such as attention, memory, language, problem solving, perceptual and fine motor skills. A neuropsychologist can also help in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, stroke, Parkinson's, Huntington and multiple sclerosis (MS). Neuropsych services may also be helpful in identifying and treating brain tumors, seizures, dementia, closed head injury, toxic metabolic conditions
