Stephen N.C. Makoni MD, FACP As a specialist in Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Makoni provides expert care for cancer patients utilizing the latest chemotherapy medications and cancer-fighting therapies. He's also knowledgeable in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the blood and blood forming organs. A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe Faculty of Medicine, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and fulfilled his Hematology/Medical Oncology Fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Makoni is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology.

Hematology

Hematology includes the study of etiology, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of blood diseases. The laboratory work that goes into the study of blood is frequently performed by a medical technologist.

Oncology

An oncologist deals with cancers and tumors including diagnosis, therapy, surgery, and treatments.
