Test and Procedures for diagnosing cardiac disorders include:

Echocardiogram

The Echocardiogram uses ultrasound waves to develop a picture of the heart. The test is valuable in providing your cardiologist with information on the size and movement of your heart, how the valves are working, and how well the blood is flowing inside your heart.  During the test, patients lie on their side and a special wand is placed on the chest. The wand, or transducer, is moved across the skin to collect images that can be seen on a computer screen.

A similar diagnostic test called a Transesophageal Echocardiogram or T-E-E uses a transducer probe that is inserted down the esophagus to an area behind the heart. A T-E-E- is extremely useful in detecting blood clots, masses and tumors that are located inside the heart. Other uses of T-E-E include detecting problems with the heart valves
