Christine Clifford Beckwith
All of us have read or heard stories about people who turn lemons into lemonade. It is not often that we
get the privilege of meeting such an individual.
Before her bout with cancer, Christine Clifford Beckwith had definitely cracked the “glass ceiling”. At the
age of 40 she was a senior executive vice president for an international information and merchandising
services firm in Minneapolis, representing accounts for AT&T, Revlon and Procter & Gamble.
Diagnosed with cancer in December of 1994, Beckwith decided to face her disease with humor. Author of
"Not Now… I’m Having A No Hair Day!", Beckwith offers a humorous portrayal of her battle with cancer. Her
book was nominated for Best Motivational Book of 1996 and Best First Book by the Books for a Better Life
Award. It won Best HealthBook of 1995/1996 and Best Illustrated Book from the Midwest Independent
Publishers Association. Beckwith is also the author of five other humorous books.
“Cancer Has Its Privileges” will be the topic of Beckwith’s entertaining keynote speech at the Trinity
Health Foundation Building Hope Event scheduled for Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn.
The Building Hope Event, now in its 11th year, is the annual fundraiser in support of the critical care needs
for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of patients at the Trinity Health CancerCare Center.
